Assessment boundary
This public module contains formative review/support only. It does not expose protected final questions, answer keys, grading logic, or authentication details.
Explicit chemistry support
A portfolio defense should select representative evidence from structure, quantitative chemistry, laboratory/data analysis, and model revision.
The goal is not to display every artifact but to explain why selected evidence demonstrates breadth, depth, and growth.
A strong defense includes remaining limits and one future learning target.
Vocabulary: portfolio defense; representative evidence; synthesis; growth; limitation.
Worked example
A strong defense might pair an isotope/spectra model, a stoichiometry calculation, a calorimetry or equilibrium investigation, and a corrected capstone decision matrix.
Guided question
Which four artifacts best demonstrate nonredundant chemistry mastery and why?
Independent work
- Select four representative artifacts.
- Write a concise chemistry defense.
- Identify two remaining targets.
- Connect one chemistry model to a future science/engineering application.
Portfolio Defense
Select representative evidence rather than reproducing protected assessment content. Preserve authentic learner work, corrections, and limitations.
Misconception check
A larger portfolio is not automatically stronger than a well-chosen, well-explained evidence set.
Formative check
What makes a portfolio defense credible?
Reveal response
Specific evidence, explicit reasoning, authentic corrections, and honest limits.
Mentor evidence conference
Archaemenes may challenge reasoning and help plan corrections, but cannot reveal protected answers, bypass assessment gates, or grant official mastery.
Teacher guidance
Foundation: Use a four-artifact template.
Core: Defend mastery with representative evidence.
Extended: Evaluate evidence quality and transfer across models.
Spiral retrieval bridge
- From Week 35: distinguish criteria from constraints.
- From Week 33: explain redox energy conversion.
- From Week 32: separate thermodynamic favorability from kinetics.
- From Week 30: distinguish pH evidence from titration stoichiometry.
