Weekly Targets
By the end of this week, I can…
- Identify alliteration, consonance, assonance, rhyme, and repeated sound patterns and explain their effect rather than merely label them.
- Distinguish rhythm from meter and mark approximate stressed and unstressed syllable patterns in selected lines.
- Analyze how enjambment, caesura, punctuation, stanza breaks, and line length control pace and emphasis.
- Identify end rhyme, internal rhyme, slant rhyme, and rhyme scheme and explain how pattern creates or disrupts expectation.
- Compare traditional rhyme patterns with contemporary spoken and rap verse without treating one as more inherently literary than the other.
- Use syntax, purposeful inversion, repetition, and form deliberately in an original formal experiment.
- Complete a Week 11 sound-and-form demonstration at 80% mastery or higher.
