Work–Energy Theorem Lab

Test the work–energy theorem with prescribed NET work and realistic nonnegative kinetic-energy constraints.

Scientific model and safety

For an ideal constant-mass object, kinetic energy K=½mv². The work–energy theorem is W_net=ΔK. Enter NET work from all contributing external forces, not work by one arbitrarily chosen force. The result is a final speed magnitude, not direction. A computed negative final kinetic energy is physically incompatible with the assumed continued-motion scenario.

1. Predict and calculate

2. Visual explanation

Energy bars show the nonnegative final state only when permitted by the model.

3. Model graph and numerical comparisons

Calculated comparisons, not measured observations
NET work (J)Initial K (J)Final K (J)Final speed (m/s)

5. Seven-round science game

Answer seven nonrepeating, randomly selected numerical questions from an eleven-scenario bank. Use feedback to correct mistakes and start a new selection.
